Federal Work-Study

Federal Work-Study is a federally subsidized program designed to promote part-time employment in the Financial Aid program for undergraduate or graduate students. Students become acquainted with many aspects of the campus community through these employment opportunities.

Apply for Federal Work-Study

To apply for Federal Work-Study, students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If awarded Federal Work-Study, the award will be listed as part of your financial aid package on your Bethel College award notice.  To be eligible for Federal Work-Study, students must have financial need as determined by the results of their FAFSA. They must be enrolled in at least six credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.

Finding a Work-Study Job

After accepting your Federal Work-Study award, you must apply for available jobs through Bethel College. You are not automatically placed in a specific job simply because you are awarded Federal Work-Study. Student jobs for the campus-based job programs are posted in Handshake

Paperwork & Paychecks

Once you are hired, your onboarding process will kick off in ADP. Onboarding includes completing the required forms online and presenting required identification documents to the Career & Leadership Development Office, WAC215. You will need to present the following personal identification documents to determine employment eligibility:

  • social security card or state-issued birth certificate;
    and
  • photo ID such as a driver’s license or Bethel College ID;
    or
  • U.S. passport

All onboarding forms and identification documents must be completed/presented before you are allowed to clock in and begin working. Your supervisor will receive a notification when your onboarding is complete and you can begin working.

Paydays are typically around the 25th of each month. Bethel College uses EFT (electronic fund transfer) as the payroll distribution process. Your earnings are deposited to the bank account of your choice, which you set up during onboarding.

Non Work-Study Campus Jobs

If you were not awarded Federal Work-Study and are still interested in campus employment, you may apply for departmental (non work-study) jobs. More information is available on our Departmental Jobs Program page.
