Hands-on Learning
Bethel incorporates a simulation lab and virtual reality (VR), so hands-on learning takes on an innovative and immersive dimension. Students benefit from these cutting-edge technologies to repeat scenarios and procedures, promoting mastery and confidence in their skills. Simulated patients and VR scenarios are designed to mimic real-life situations, offering high realism and preparing students for the challenges they will face in clinical practice.
Clinical Experiences and Research
Students experience hands-on learning in their clinical experiences including rotations in Newton, Wichita, and surrounding areas. Students rotate through geriatric, medical/surgical, pediatric, maternity, mental-health, critical care, and leadership and management clinical. Students end their time in the program spending 135 hours working alongside a practicing nurse.
In keeping with Bethel’s emphasis on undergraduate research, nursing students complete a research project and present their work at Bethel’s Undergraduate Research, Internships and Creative Activity (URICA) Symposium in April. The content of these projects centers on a nursing practice issue and quality and safety in nursing competencies, such as patient-centered care, teamwork and collaboration, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, or safety informatics. Faculty guide students through the research process and poster presentation.
