Students who graduate with degrees in communication arts get to complete a senior seminar where they can dive deep into a topic they love. Some students choose to cast, direct, and produce one-act plays. Others design projects and have communication arts student opportunities in places that match their personal interests.
Some recent projects have included:
- Analyzing how Jesus is shown in popular culture
- Making a promotional video for the college admissions department
- Running a theater workshop for inmates at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility
- Studying the communication strategies of the “truth” anti-tobacco campaign
With help from teachers and alumni, communication arts students have also landed internships at various places.
- New York Film Academy at Universal Studios, Los Angeles
- Rhodes Film and Video, Newton
- KWCH-TV, Wichita
- CG Post, Inc., Wichita
- Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago
- KTQW Channel 49, Wichita
