Exploring the “Big Questions”

Are You Interested in Church History and Ethics?

If you find yourself fascinated by church or religious history, you might be the type of student who wants to understand how we can live compassionately and responsibly. You’re probably curious about big questions like who we are, who God is, and why these things matter.

Maybe you’re intrigued by religious texts, like the Bible, and how they’ve shaped history and influence our lives today. You might also be passionate about promoting peace and working on peacemaking efforts. Perhaps you’re even thinking about becoming a pastor someday. This journey involves exploring deep ideas, understanding the past, thinking about the present, and planning for a meaningful future.

Bethel’s Department of Bible and Religion

At Bethel College, the Department of Bible and Religion offers a vibrant spiritual life on campus. Students can plan and lead weekly chapel services, which are voluntary and open to the whole campus community. You can join religious groups like the Catholic Students group or the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. You can also help organize informal worship services or Bible study groups with other students.

  • Flexible Programs: You can major or minor in Bible and Religion, and it easily combines with other fields like business, history, communication arts, social work, music, or biology.
  • Special Minors: You can also minor in Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies or Youth Ministry, which fit well with almost any major.
  • Supportive Faculty: The faculty are dedicated to helping you follow the path you choose for your studies.

If you’re ready to explore big questions and make a difference, Bethel College’s Department of Bible and Religion is the place for you!
